Description

The SHAAL Midweight is a premium wool shawl woven by hand using traditional Khadi techniques on manual looms. Crafted from 100% lamb wool sourced in Swat, it offers a balanced combination of warmth, breathability, and structure for everyday wear.

Watch the film.

Each piece is produced slowly, using methods passed down through generations. Its midweight construction gives the shawl enough body to sit securely on the wearer, while remaining breathable, flexible, and easy to layer throughout the day.

Designed as a versatile wool layer, the Midweight can be worn over a t-shirt, light knit, or outer layer across spring, autumn, cooler summer evenings, and indoors. It is made for regular use and natural movement, adapting easily to the wearer without prescribing a fixed way of being worn.

The form remains constant - a pure rectangle - defined not by cut, but by weight, weave, and proportion.

Each shawl is finished with an embroidered label, individually placed and stitched by hand.

No blends. No industrial finishing.

Only lamb’s wool.

The Roots

"ہوا میں وہ راز کہاں چھپے ہیں
جو سواد کی پہاڑوں سے بھی پرانے ہیں؟"

"Where are the secrets hidden in the air,
Older than the mountains of Swat itself?"

SHAAL creates handwoven shawls through a modern approach to heritage, material, and form. Each piece is woven slowly on manual looms using traditional Khadi techniques, preserving a method of making shaped by patience, precision, and the hand of the maker.

Our premium wool shawls are made from natural fibres chosen for performance as much as provenance. We work with lamb’s wool from Swat and pashmina cashmere from Kashmir, regions long associated with cold climates, textile knowledge, and historic wool craftsmanship. These fibres give each shawl warmth, breathability, softness, and a refined drape.

What defines a SHAAL is not decoration, but construction — weight, weave, proportion, and finish. Each piece is shaped through traditional textile techniques and carries the subtle irregularities of manual production, giving it the character of something made slowly and with intention. No industrial finishing. No unnecessary excess.

Our aim is to bring heritage into a contemporary wardrobe with clarity and restraint. The result is a handwoven shawl that holds the depth of traditional making while remaining modern in silhouette, versatile in use, and natural in the way it is worn.

The Materials

"کیا مواد میں بھی کوئی زندگی چھپی ہوتی ہے؟
کیا یہ دھاگے، یہ رنگ، اپنی کہانی سناتے ہیں؟"

"Is there life hidden within materials?
Do these threads, these colors, tell their own stories?"

Balance, Breathability, and Structure

100% lamb wool.

Sourced in Swat, this fibre is naturally breathable, insulating, and resilient, giving the shawl warmth and structure while remaining comfortable for regular wear across changing temperatures.

Its midweight construction creates a balance of body and flexibility. It feels more substantial than the lighter drape of the Midweight Pashmina, while remaining easier and more adaptable to wear than the denser heavyweight pieces in our collection.

Woven slowly on manual looms using traditional Khadi techniques, the Midweight retains the depth and subtle irregularity of something made by hand. The result is a wool shawl defined by balance — warmth, breathability, structure, and everyday versatility in equal measure.

The Versatility

"ہر شال ایک روایت کی گواہی ہے،
جہاں بناوٹ، وزن، اور نسبت میں توازن ہوتا ہے"

"Every shawl is a testament to tradition,Where balance is found in construction, weight, and proportion"
